A district court in Bhopal has remanded former district judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh to five-day CBI custody in connection with the alleged dowry death of actor-model Twisha Sharma. The accused were brought before the court after separate medical examinations conducted under heavy security.

Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh appeared together in the accused box in the courtroom of Sessions Judge Shobhana Bhalavi. They were observed quietly conversing with each other during the proceedings. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Giribala Singh after a lengthy questioning session at her residence in Bhopal.

Samarth Singh, who was arrested by Bhopal Police from Jabalpur, was taken to court after the completion of his earlier police remand. Twisha Sharma was found hanging at her in-laws’ residence in Katara Hills, leading to allegations of dowry harassment by her family. Samarth Singh was previously sent to police custody till May 29 by a Judicial Magistrate First Class court in Bhopal.

The CBI, taking over the investigation on the state government’s recommendation, sought further custody of Samarth Singh for interrogation. During the remand period, the agency conducted a detailed forensic inspection at the alleged crime scene with advanced investigation tools. Giribala Singh’s arrest followed the rejection of her interim bail plea by the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
