A Bhopal district court has extended the judicial custody of former district judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh until July 28 in the Twisha Sharma death case. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) requested the extension, citing non-cooperation from the accused during the collection of their voice samples.
During a video conferencing hearing under tight security at the court premises, the CBI informed the court that both accused individuals did not cooperate during the voice sample collection on July 6. Samarth Singh refused to provide his voice sample, while Giribala Singh initially provided one sample but later declined to continue the process.
Advocate Ankur Pandey, representing Twisha Sharma’s family, stated that the CBI sought an extension of the judicial custody due to the lack of cooperation from the accused during the voice sample collection. The court granted the extension until July 28 based on the agency’s request.
The court also addressed an application from Twisha Sharma’s family requesting a copy of the post-mortem report. AIIMS Bhopal informed the court that the post-mortem report and related documents had already been submitted to the CBI in a sealed cover and could not be provided separately.
Sources revealed that a five-member medical board from AIIMS Delhi submitted the final forensic report to the CBI in a sealed cover on July 10. The report’s contents, although undisclosed to the public, are anticipated to be crucial in the ongoing investigation.
Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh have been held in Bhopal Central Jail since June 2 following the conclusion of their CBI custody. The two remain in judicial custody as the CBI continues its investigative efforts in the case of Twisha Sharma’s death.
