Former England captain Eoin Morgan has suggested that Harry Brook could be the frontrunner to take over the Test captaincy following Ben Stokes’ retirement. Brook, currently England’s white-ball captain, was the vice-captain during England’s recent series loss to New Zealand. Morgan expressed his preference for having different captains for white-ball and Test formats, highlighting Brook as a strong candidate for the Test role.
Morgan also mentioned potential candidates for the white-ball captaincy, including Phil Salt, Sam Curran, and Will Jacks. Meanwhile, England fast bowler Mark Wood praised Stokes for his contributions to the team, both as a player and captain. Wood commended Stokes’ loyalty and leadership qualities, emphasizing the positive impact he had on the team.
Reflecting on India’s team selection, former head coach Ravi Shastri suggested that teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi should have been given a debut opportunity. Shastri believed that India should have introduced Sooryavanshi earlier, especially considering his current form and cricketing acumen. Shastri emphasized the importance of providing young talent like Sooryavanshi with opportunities to showcase their skills on the international stage.
