Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar commended Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for their impressive turnaround in the ongoing IPL season. Despite a slow start and being low on the points table initially, KKR has surged ahead with four consecutive wins, boosting their chances for a top-four finish. Bangar highlighted KKR’s strengthened team balance, rejuvenated spin attack, and consistent batting performance as key factors in their resurgence.
According to Bangar, KKR’s current form is crucial as momentum plays a significant role in the latter stages of a tournament like the IPL. He emphasized that KKR’s recent success has substantially increased their likelihood of making it to the playoffs. Bangar expressed optimism about KKR’s potential to achieve one of the most remarkable comebacks in IPL history if they continue their winning streak in the remaining matches.
Bangar also discussed the implications of Punjab Kings’ recent loss to Delhi Capitals on the playoff race dynamics. He noted that Punjab’s chances of securing a top-two finish have been complicated following the defeat. Bangar suggested that Punjab needs to win at least two out of their three remaining games to stay in contention for the knockout stage. Meanwhile, KKR currently holds the eighth position in the points table with nine points from ten matches and is gearing up to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) next.
