Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu has voiced his support for Sanju Samson after the wicketkeeper-batter was left out of India’s playing XI for the second T20I against England. Rayudu highlighted Samson’s recent achievements, emphasizing his crucial role in India’s T20 World Cup victory just three games ago.
Despite Samson’s exclusion following a low score in the opening T20I, India introduced Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for his international debut in the second match. Rayudu, while welcoming Sooryavanshi, expressed optimism that Samson would bounce back stronger from this setback. He wished both players success in their respective careers.
Samson, who was instrumental in India’s T20 World Cup win and earned the Player of the Tournament accolade, faced criticism for his omission after a single low-scoring performance. Sooryavanshi, on the other hand, displayed fearless intent during his debut, hitting two significant sixes in his brief 10-ball innings.
England secured a four-wicket victory in the second T20I, taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. With England needing two more wins to claim the series and India requiring three wins after the first match was washed out, the series remains finely poised.
