Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin believes that Royal Challengers Bengaluru are the favorites to win the IPL 2026 final. The defending champions finished at the top of the league table and secured a direct entry into the final after defeating Gujarat Titans by 92 runs in Qualifier 1.
Ashwin acknowledged Gujarat’s advantage of playing at their home ground, the Narendra Modi Stadium. Despite this, he emphasized that RCB’s consistent performances throughout the tournament have positioned them as the team to beat. According to Ashwin, RCB must maintain their attacking style of play to secure victory in the final.
Gujarat Titans, who overcame Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2, will face RCB in the final. Led by Shubman Gill, they have been a strong and consistent team this season. Ashwin highlighted the differing approaches of the two teams, with RCB known for their aggressive gameplay.
Ashwin pointed out that Gujarat’s familiarity with their home conditions could be the deciding factor in the final. He mentioned that RCB’s aggressive approach, led by players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya, gives them an edge in the title clash. RCB aims to become the third franchise in IPL history to successfully defend their title, while Gujarat Titans are eyeing their second championship.
