Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has suggested that leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi needs to revamp his bowling technique promptly. Jaffer pointed out that international batters have started to decipher Bishnoi’s bowling due to its high speed and lack of sharp turn. Bishnoi’s costly 17th over, where he leaked 29 runs and bowled three backfoot no-balls, was pivotal in England’s unexpected four-wicket win over India in the second T20I at Old Trafford, Manchester.
Jaffer expressed his concerns on his YouTube channel, emphasizing that as batters get accustomed to Bishnoi’s pace, facing him becomes easier. He highlighted that Bishnoi’s bowling lacks significant turn and mainly relies on variations like topspinners. The cricketing legend also noted Bishnoi’s exclusion from the Rajasthan Royals’ playing eleven in the IPL due to a drop in effectiveness.
Noting the abundance of spin-bowling talent in Indian cricket, Jaffer mentioned alternative options available to the selectors if Bishnoi fails to deliver. He cited examples like Kuldeep Yadav and Shivang Kumar, indicating that India has a pool of bowlers to choose from. Jaffer suggested that Bishnoi needs to introduce more variety in his bowling to enhance his performance and remain successful at the international level.
