In a significant political move, former Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader K.C. Tyagi and ex-Uttar Pradesh minister Ashok Yadav have shifted to the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). This transition took place on Sunday in the presence of RLD President and Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary. Welcoming the two seasoned leaders, the RLD President expressed his pleasure at their inclusion in the party.
Chaudhary, in a post on X, conveyed, “We extend a warm welcome and heartfelt congratulations to the senior and experienced leader of the Rashtriya Lok Dal family, former Member of Parliament, Shri K.C. Tyagi Ji, and former Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Ashok Yadav.” The welcoming ceremony was held at the Maulana Azad Bhawan Hall in Delhi, where Chaudhary emphasized that the RLD would strengthen with their addition, enhancing the party’s dedication to public service.
Having recently resigned from JD-U led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on March 17, Tyagi cited the conclusion of the party’s membership drive as the reason for his departure. Tyagi’s association with JD-U traces back to its inception in October 2003, following the merger of the Samata Party with the Janata Dal. Despite parting ways with JD-U, Tyagi reiterated his unwavering commitment to advocating for the underprivileged, farmers, and marginalized communities.
Addressing speculations, JD-U spokesperson Neeraj Kumar clarified that Tyagi’s resignation did not stem from disagreements over the party’s policies. Neeraj Kumar stated, “K.C. Tyagi has not resigned due to any differences with the party’s policies. He has expressed great respect for Nitish Kumar and now wishes to be active in the politics of Uttar Pradesh.”
