Former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai emphasized the importance of collaborating with the Centre to facilitate the safe return of Kannadigas and other Indians stranded in conflict-ridden Middle Eastern countries. Addressing the media in Savanur, Haveri district, Bommai highlighted the need for the state government to work with Kannadigas in Dubai and the Indian Embassy to provide essential support and repatriate those stuck in the region.
Bommai expressed concerns about the escalating US-Israel-Iran conflict, emphasizing its potential repercussions on India, particularly in the petroleum sector and the economy. He stressed the global implications of the war and urged for a peaceful resolution through dialogue to prevent further loss of life. The BJP leader underscored the challenges faced by Indians, especially Kannadigas, in countries like Dubai, Doha, and Kuwait, where many are currently stranded.
Acknowledging the efforts of the Centre and the state government in facilitating the return of stranded individuals, Bommai highlighted the need for immediate action to ensure the safe repatriation of Indians abroad. Drawing parallels to past successful evacuations led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he emphasized the state government’s responsibility in supporting the return of distressed citizens, particularly Kannadigas, facing hardships due to the conflict.
