Former Kerala Director General of Police (DGP) and Bharatiya Janata Party Councillor, R. Sreelekha, clarified that she is not upset about not being chosen as the Thiruvananthapuram Mayor. She expressed her backing for the party’s selection of V.V. Rajesh for the Mayor post, following the BJP’s significant victory in the civic body polls.
V.V. Rajesh, a senior leader, became Kerala’s first BJP Mayor after the party’s historic win in the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation elections. Sreelekha affirmed her support for the party’s decision and stated that she will continue as a Councillor for the full term without any plans to challenge or resign.
Despite speculations, Sreelekha confirmed that she will not contest in the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections. She mentioned that the party may have chosen Rajesh over her for the Mayor position based on his potential performance. Sreelekha emphasized her commitment to fulfilling her responsibilities towards the voters who elected her.
