A week after leaving the Congress, Rakesh Singh Yadav, former Madhya Pradesh Congress General Secretary and spokesperson, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He criticized the state Congress leadership while being inducted into the BJP at the party’s state office in Bhopal by state BJP President Hemant Khandelwal. Yadav also met Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at his official residence.
Hemant Khandelwal, the state BJP President, announced Yadav’s appointment as the BJP’s state spokesperson. Yadav had resigned from the Congress, accusing Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari and state in-charge Harish Chaudhary of trying to silence him after he raised questions about the party’s allegations against Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in the Bharat Nyas Trust land allotment controversy.
After joining the BJP, Yadav criticized the Congress leadership for making baseless allegations against the BJP government. He claimed that when he asked for evidence to support the party’s stance during TV debates, he was reprimanded for participating in such discussions. Yadav further alleged that key posts within the Congress were being sold and that truth-speaking workers were being sidelined.
Yadav accused Congress leaders Jitu Patwari, Umang Singhar, and Harish Chaudhary of managing the party like brokers and not allowing workers to freely express their opinions. He stated that the Congress was not working in the public’s interest and that the recent organizational restructuring within the party involved selling off crucial positions. Khandelwal, welcoming Yadav to the BJP, criticized the Congress for stifling leaders who question the party’s leadership and for making unsubstantiated claims against the BJP government. He expressed confidence in Yadav’s nearly three-decade-long experience strengthening the BJP.
