A devastating fire at a bed and breakfast in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar has claimed 21 lives, leading to scrutiny of building by-laws by former MLA and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Somnath Bharti. Bharti criticized the delayed response of fire tenders to the scene and emphasized the need for accountability in the face of such negligence.

Bharti highlighted the complaints from locals regarding the delayed arrival of the fire brigade, stating that what should have taken minutes extended to over an hour. He squarely placed the blame on the BJP government, calling it an “abject failure” and stressing the importance of holding those responsible for the tragedy accountable.

The fire, which started in the basement and spread through the building, resulted in the tragic deaths of 21 individuals, including foreign nationals and a family from Gurugram. Bharti did not mince words in his criticism of the BJP, attributing the incident to governance failures and lax enforcement of regulations.
