A day before the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Kota–Bundi Greenfield Airport, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot acknowledged the previous Congress government’s role in kickstarting the project. Gehlot highlighted that crucial steps like land allocation and initial approvals were undertaken during his tenure to pave the way for the airport’s realization.
The foundation stone for the Kota–Bundi Greenfield Airport, a significant endeavor for the Hadoti region, is set to be laid on Saturday at the new airport site in Shambhupura. The ceremony will witness the presence of Om Birla, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
During the event, foundation ceremonies (Bhoomi Pujan) will also mark the commencement of two major drinking water projects for the region — the Navnera Mega Drinking Water Project and the Parvan–Akawad Mega Drinking Water Project.
With an estimated cost of Rs 1,507 crore, the Kota–Bundi Greenfield Airport is projected to accommodate around 1,000 passengers during peak hours. The airport’s infrastructure will include a 20,000 square meter terminal building, a 3,200-meter-long and 45-meter-wide runway, parking facilities for Airbus A-321 category aircraft, and seven apron bays for aircraft parking.
Expected to enhance air connectivity for Kota, Bundi, and the entire Hadoti region, the airport aims to bolster tourism, business, and regional development. Ashok Gehlot emphasized that the Congress government, following a promise by Rahul Gandhi to the people of Kota, took concrete measures to materialize the airport project.
