Former South African cricketer Paul Adams acknowledged Kieron Pollard’s pivotal role in boosting George Linde’s self-assurance during his early T20 days. Adams, who closely mentored Linde from his academy days to the Cape Cobras team, highlighted the transformation of Linde from a hesitant youngster to a seasoned T20 professional. Linde’s journey was marked by a lack of self-belief initially, but interactions with Pollard significantly boosted his confidence.
The resemblance to former Proteas spinner Claude Henderson was evident in Linde from the start, according to Adams. Despite Linde’s initial struggles with self-confidence, his all-round skills, especially in one-day and T20 cricket, earned him a place in the team. Linde’s breakthrough came during the Cobras’ successful 2014/15 T20 season, where he learned valuable lessons from playing alongside T20 stalwarts like Sunil Narine and Pollard.
Adams emphasized that Linde’s success was not immediate but the result of consistent hard work in various cricket formats. Linde’s versatility as a cricketer, showcased through his batting prowess and exceptional fielding, has earned him recognition in global T20 leagues. Linde’s recent IPL debut with Lucknow Super Giants further highlighted his value as a utility player in modern T20 cricket, impressing with his all-round abilities.
