Former Tamil Nadu Health Minister and ex-AIADMK MLA C. Vijayabaskar has confirmed his decision to join Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay-led Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) on Thursday. The induction ceremony is set to take place at 9 a.m. at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Mamallapuram, where Vijayabaskar will formally join the party in the presence of Chief Minister Vijay and senior TVK leaders.
Representing the Viralimalai Assembly constituency, Vijayabaskar, a prominent leader from Pudukkottai district, served as Tamil Nadu’s Health Minister in the previous AIADMK government. After resigning from his Assembly membership, his move to join TVK has now been officially announced, putting an end to speculation about his political future.
In a statement released before the event, Vijayabaskar highlighted his 35-year political journey dedicated to public service and people’s welfare. Emphasizing his commitment to serving society, he mentioned his experience as Health Minister during the Covid-19 pandemic, where he worked diligently to protect lives and ensure an effective state response.
Vijayabaskar described his decision to join TVK as the start of a new phase in his political career, expressing eagerness to enhance his public service and continue supporting the people of Tamil Nadu. He commended Chief Minister Vijay’s leadership, acknowledging the government’s popularity and efficient governance. Joining TVK, he believes, will enable him to contribute more effectively to the state’s progress and the well-being of its residents.
