Former U17 World Champion Neha secured the gold medal in the women’s 59kg category at the Polyák Imre, Varga János & Kozma István Memorial Senior Ranking Tournament 2026 in Budapest. Neha demonstrated remarkable tactical skills to defeat USA’s Abigail E. Nette in a closely fought match, winning 6-4 on points. This victory marked India’s second gold at the event, following Aman Sehrawat’s success on the opening day.

India’s success continued in the 62kg women’s wrestling division, with Mansi earning a silver medal after reaching the final against Canada’s Ana P. Godinez Gonzalez. Unfortunately, Mansi had to settle for silver due to an injury during the match. Additionally, Savita claimed a bronze medal by defeating Kazakhstan’s Irina Kuznetsova 14-5 in the same weight class.

The Indian squad’s medal tally now stands at eight, including two gold, two silver, and four bronze medals. In another event, Hansika Lamba, a former U23 World Championship silver medalist, secured a silver in the women’s 55kg category after a remarkable comeback in the semifinals against Germany’s Anastasia Blayvas.

The tournament will progress with more women’s wrestling categories and the start of the Greco-Roman division. India’s representation in women’s wrestling will feature Nishu (53kg), Neha Sharma (57kg), Deeksha Malik (72kg), and Priya (76kg). The Greco-Roman campaign will kick off with Anil in the 72kg category, accompanied by Rohit Bura and Kumar Sunil in the 87kg division.
