Fortis Hospital, Nagarbhavi, addressed accusations of a missing luxury Rado wristwatch and a half-sleeve sweater belonging to the late social worker K. Ramaiah. The hospital denied the claims made by Ramaiah’s daughter, Anita Ramaiah, who sought the return of her father’s sentimental wristwatch. An FIR has been filed by the Govindarajanagar police under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against unknown individuals regarding the alleged theft.
The hospital expressed sympathy to Ramaiah’s family and confirmed that they had internally reviewed the situation, providing all relevant information to both the family and the authorities. Fortis Hospital clarified that the family did not raise any concerns about missing items when the body was handed over on January 15, 2026. The hospital received formal communication about the missing items over two months later, on April 24, 2026, after the CCTV footage had been automatically deleted as per the hospital’s data retention policy.
Despite the delayed report, the hospital conducted internal investigations, checked records, and shared details with the police. Fortis Hospital mentioned that Ramaiah had visited another medical facility before being admitted to their premises. The hospital assured full cooperation with the ongoing police review and emphasized that there were no pending issues from their side. They cautioned against baseless allegations, highlighting the potential defamatory nature of such claims.
Anita Ramaiah alleged that her father had collapsed on January 15 and was taken to Fortis Hospital after another facility allegedly refused treatment. She claimed that her father’s wristwatch and sweater were missing after his passing. Anita appealed for an inquiry and access to CCTV footage, expressing her emotional attachment to her father’s wristwatch as a cherished memory. The police confirmed that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
