Four individuals lost their lives in a tragic road accident near Khopa Chowk on NH-27 in Bihar’s Madhubani district. The incident occurred when a Scorpio from Haryana collided head-on with a truck, resulting in a severe impact that left the Scorpio completely mangled.
Initial investigations indicate that the Scorpio, traveling from Darbhanga, veered across the divider near Khopa Chowk, entering the wrong lane and crashing into the oncoming truck. Authorities suspect that driving on the wrong side of the road may have been a contributing factor to the accident. Statements from the truck driver and eyewitnesses are being gathered as part of the ongoing inquiry.
The deceased individuals, identified as residents of Kurukshetra district in Haryana, are Sanjeev Kumar, Kapil Kumar, and Vikas Kumar. The identity of the fourth victim is yet to be confirmed. It has been revealed that the occupants of the Scorpio were on a visit to Bihar.
Efforts are being made to reach out to the vehicle owner using the registration details, while the bodies have been transferred to Sadar Hospital in Madhubani for post-mortem examination. The collision, described as extremely severe by Station House Officer Vikram Acharya, resulted in one immediate fatality at the scene, with the other three succumbing to their injuries en route to the hospital.
The truck driver, who is reportedly in stable condition, has been detained for questioning and is receiving medical care at the hospital. Authorities are investigating whether negligence or lane violation played a role in the crash, which caused a disruption in traffic movement on NH-27 for a period. Alternate routes were arranged to restore normal traffic flow, with further investigations currently underway.
