Four individuals tragically lost their lives in a devastating bus accident on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway near Sankalagere village in Channapatna taluk of Karnataka’s Ramanagara district. The victims have been identified as Mohammed Farhan, Sulfi, Rasheed, and Saker. The accident occurred when a private bus, operated by PK Travels, veered off the road and collided with the fencing, resulting in the immediate deaths of four passengers.
The bus, en route from Calicut to Bengaluru, reportedly lost control around 4:10 a.m., possibly due to the driver falling asleep. The collision was so severe that it caused the bus to continue moving for nearly 100 meters after impact. Two other passengers, Abdul and Allen, sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.
Authorities highlighted the absence of crash barriers as a potential factor that could have exacerbated the tragedy. Prompt response from Channapatna traffic police led to the driver, Riyaz, being taken into custody for further investigation. The bodies of the deceased and the injured have been transferred to Channapatna Government Hospital, with investigations ongoing.
In a separate incident on Christmas Day in 2025, a tragic collision involving a sleeper coach and a container truck resulted in six fatalities and injuries to 21 others on National Highway 48 in Chitradurga district. The bus, carrying a total of 32 passengers, caught fire following the collision, leading to a harrowing ordeal for those onboard.
