Four villagers tragically lost their lives in Munimpur village, Haryana’s Jhajjar district, after inhaling toxic gas while attempting to save a calf that had fallen into a well. The victims suffocated inside the well, leading to a three-hour rescue operation involving local officials.

The incident unfolded when a calf fell into the well, prompting one villager to descend into the well to rescue the animal. However, he was overwhelmed by suspected poisonous gas. Subsequently, three more villagers entered the well in succession to save him but also fell unconscious due to the toxic fumes.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Dalbir, Narendra, Monu, and Ramu. Despite extensive rescue efforts, all four were retrieved from the well and rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The joint rescue operation involved teams from the Jhajjar Police, Fire Department, and district administration.

Police Commissioner Dr. Rajshree Singh and Congress MLA Kuldeep Vats were present at the scene to oversee the rescue operation. Additionally, during the rescue, Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar fell ill and was hospitalized, with his condition now reported as stable.

Grieving villagers expressed dissatisfaction with the alleged delayed response from the administration, believing that prompt assistance could have averted the tragic deaths. They have called for an investigation into the incident and demanded accountability for any lapses in the emergency response.

Authorities are set to probe the exact cause of the fatalities, with preliminary findings indicating that the victims succumbed to toxic gas within the well. Police and district officials are also assessing whether proper safety protocols were followed during the rescue mission.

The loss of the four villagers in Munimpur village has deeply impacted the community, with residents mourning the individuals who perished while trying to rescue the trapped calf.
