French President Macron Pays Tribute to 2008 Mumbai Attack Victims on India Visit

French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron honored the victims of the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks at the start of their visit to India. Macron is scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi later in the day.

During the visit, both leaders will inaugurate the ‘India-France Year of Innovation 2026,’ aiming to boost the already strong strategic partnership between the two nations. Prime Minister Modi welcomed Macron warmly upon his arrival, expressing optimism that enhancing India-France collaboration will contribute to global advancement.

President Macron’s visit, at the invitation of PM Modi for the AI Impact Summit in India, includes a bilateral summit in Mumbai. This visit marks Macron’s fourth trip to India and his first official engagement in Mumbai. Discussions between the two leaders will encompass a thorough review of progress under the India-France Strategic Partnership, with a focus on enhancing cooperation in emerging sectors.

Later in the day, Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will jointly launch the ‘India-France Year of Innovation 2026’ and address an audience comprising business leaders, start-up founders, researchers, and innovators from both nations.
