A new police complaint has been lodged against Trinamool Congress general secretary regarding the ‘Sebaashray’ community healthcare project initiated by Abhishek Banerjee in Diamond Harbour. The complaint, filed by Malati Biswas, accuses Banerjee of overseeing faulty treatment at the health camp, resulting in the amputation of her limb. Biswas visited the camp for knee pain treatment but alleged that incorrect medication worsened her condition.
The complaint states that after her condition deteriorated, Biswas was referred to MR Bangur Hospital and later to National Medical College & Hospital in Kolkata. Despite seeking clarification from ‘Sebaashray’ officials, she received no response. This incident is one of 17 complaints against ‘Sebaashray’ since the change in West Bengal’s administration, with investigations underway and two FIRs filed. Allegations include medical negligence, unauthorized camp operations, and use of expired medicines.
Furthermore, complaints involve hiring unqualified doctors and improper equipment usage. A local BJP leader highlighted issues like missing doctor registrations on prescriptions and unauthorized use of Ultrasonography machines at the camps. The situation has raised concerns about the functioning and practices of the healthcare initiative.
