A new vessel incident near Oman’s Shinas port is under investigation, as confirmed by the Indian Embassy in Muscat. This marks the third recent vessel-related incident off the coast of Oman. The first incident involved the MT Marivex on June 8, where a fire broke out with 24 Indian seafarers on board.

The fire incident on MT Marivex was reported at 1:30 pm on June 8, according to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways. All Indian seafarers on board were reported safe following the incident. The second incident occurred on June 10, involving an attack on the commercial vessel Settebello off the coast of Oman.

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal confirmed the deaths of three Indian crew members from the vessel Settebello. The bodies of the deceased crew members have been located and identified. The Modi government has pledged support to the families of the deceased and is ensuring the repatriation of rescued crew members and the return of the deceased crew members’ remains.
