Gaby Lewis is set to captain Ireland in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England from June 12 to July 5. However, she will miss the tri-series against Pakistan and West Indies due to a leg injury recovery. Orla Prendergast, ranked seventh among women’s T20I all-rounders, will lead the team in the tri-series and resume her role as vice-captain for the T20 World Cup.

Ireland, currently ninth in the ICC women’s T20I rankings, is placed in Group 2 alongside England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Scotland. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. The 15-member World Cup squad includes players like Laura Delany, Ava Canning, and Christina Coulter Reilly.

Cricket Ireland confirmed that Jane Maguire will miss both events due to an injury, while Aimee Maguire has regained fitness and is part of both squads. The team will kick off the tri-series against West Indies on May 28, followed by matches against Pakistan and additional fixtures against the West Indies.

In the T20 World Cup, Ireland will start against Scotland on June 13, followed by matches against England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and West Indies. The squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup includes Gaby Lewis as captain and Orla Prendergast as vice-captain, along with other talented players.
