Olympic bronze medallist Gagan Narang and his wife, Annu Raj Singh, the first Indian woman pistol shooter to qualify for the Olympics, have introduced Project Amarjeet. This initiative offers free coaching, mentoring, and guidance to shooters, coaches, and academies in India. Named after Narang’s mother, Amarjeet, the program aims to give back to the shooting community.
Project Amarjeet consists of three programs catering to different levels: Grassroots, Intermediate, and Elite. Udaan, a coaching camp for underprivileged shooters, lasts three to five days and includes both rifle and pistol disciplines. Pratibha offers personal mentoring over an extended period for talented individuals, while Disha provides structured guidance for coaches, academies, and parents.
The initiative is open to all individuals in India involved in shooting, irrespective of their background or competitive level. Applications will be personally reviewed by Gagan Narang and Annu Raj Singh. The operational costs are covered through a contribution model involving volunteers, institutions, corporations, and individual donors.
In addition to the core programs, Project Amarjeet will provide online and offline training in various disciplines like financial literacy, anti-doping education, nutrition, and mental conditioning. These sessions will be accessible to all registered participants, enhancing the overall support offered by the initiative.
