Three women from the same family lost their lives, and one person got injured when a gas cylinder exploded in a house in Afghanistan’s Khost province. The tragic incident occurred as the family used a gas heater to combat the cold weather, leading to a fatal explosion due to gas leakage.
The injured individual, a male family member, has been hospitalized for treatment. In Afghanistan, where modern heating systems are scarce, people often resort to gas cylinders or wooden stoves for warmth during the harsh winter months. Unfortunately, such incidents of gas leaks resulting in explosions are not uncommon.
Recently, in a similar gas cylinder blast in Nangarhar province, two women were killed, and two children were injured. The lack of modern heating infrastructure in post-war Afghanistan forces many to rely on traditional heating methods, despite the risks associated with gas leaks and explosions.
In another unfortunate event on January 14, a gas cylinder explosion in a hotel in Nangarhar province left over a dozen employees injured, some critically. The incident underscored the dangers posed by gas leaks in a country where old-fashioned heating systems often lead to tragic accidents.
