Gas supply in Sohbatpur district of Balochistan, Pakistan, was disrupted after a gas pipeline was blown up by unidentified assailants. The incident occurred when attackers targeted a six-inch diameter gas pipeline passing under the Bahadur Ali Khoso Bridge in Bhand Sharif Goth, causing an explosion. As a result, gas supply was affected in various rural and urban areas including Faridabad, Bhand Sharif, Hairdin, Chatan Patti, Dargai, Jiani, and Daulat Ghari, as reported by Pakistan’s daily Dawn.
Following the explosion, police responded by cordoning off the area and initiating an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) claimed responsibility for an attack on a road construction site near Pat Feeder Peropol in Dera Murad Jamali on April 29. The attack involved firing rockets at the site, damaging machinery and halting work, with no casualties reported, according to The Balochistan Post.
In a media statement, BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch mentioned that the group targeted a “military company” involved in government construction projects in the area, resulting in the destruction of the company’s machinery. The attack, which occurred near Pit Feeder Piropal in the Dera Murad Jamali area of Naseerabad, was part of the group’s efforts towards the independence of Balochistan.
The recent attacks by Baloch groups, including the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) and BRG, have targeted Pakistani forces and installations in various areas of Balochistan. Notably, the BRG previously claimed responsibility for damaging a major gas pipeline transporting fuel from Balochistan’s Sui gas field to Karachi in March. The group emphasized its opposition to the exploitation of Balochistan’s natural resources and vowed to continue targeting such activities, as reported by The Balochistan Post.
These incidents occur amidst a series of escalating attacks by Baloch groups on Pakistani military and police forces in Balochistan, leading to significant casualties and infrastructure damage.
