A gas pipeline was accidentally damaged near Rohua High School in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, leading to a significant gas leak and panic among students and locals. The incident occurred during drain construction work, with the rupture causing a loud hissing sound resembling an explosion. Five students fainted and were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to an official, the gas pipeline was struck by an excavator during drain construction in front of Rohua High School. The leak resulted in a loud noise and the release of gas, alarming students and teachers at the nearby school. Amid the chaos, five students lost consciousness, prompting a swift evacuation and transfer to a health center.
Acting Headmaster Swami Sudhan mentioned that the loud noise caused fear and chaos among students and staff inside the school. The affected students, including three from Class 9 and one each from Class 10 and another class, were reported to be stable but were referred to a medical facility for observation. An investigation is underway to determine any discrepancies in the pipeline’s location and safety protocols during the excavation.
