Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, praised war heroes, farmers, and the specially abled as the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) opened its doors to passengers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the airport on October 8, and it commenced operations on Christmas Day. Adani expressed gratitude to soldiers, airport workers, farmers, and the specially abled for their contributions to the nation.
In a social media post, Adani shared his emotional experience welcoming the first passengers at NMIA, alongside war heroes and the dedicated workers who built the airport. He highlighted the farmers who sustain India, social workers who serve the nation, and the inspiring specially abled individuals. Adani emphasized that for many, this was their first flight, symbolizing progress and inclusivity.
Adani underscored the significance of NMIA as a symbol of progress for India, emphasizing the importance of moving forward inclusively. He and his wife, Priti Adani, felt honored to be part of the airport’s opening, which signifies opportunity with dignity and a united India. Adani expressed that the blessings, courage, and resilience of these individuals motivate them to serve the nation better every day.
NMIA operates as a public-private partnership between Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) and Adani Airports Holdings Limited (AAHL). Initially, the airport will run for 12 hours daily, with 23 scheduled departures, serving 16 domestic destinations. By February 2026, NMIA will transition to 24/7 operations with 34 daily departures to meet the region’s growing demands. The airport is currently undergoing Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) trials to ensure seamless operations.
