New Delhi, Aug 15 (IANS) New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Chairperson Manoj Kumar Dwivedi on Saturday called upon Team NDMC to gear up for the upcoming BRICS Summit with the same commitment, professionalism and preparedness demonstrated during the G20 Summit.

Hoisting the National Flag on the 80th Independence Day at NDMC Headquarters, Dwivedi said that every responsibility entrusted to the civic agency for the prestigious international event next month must be executed within the stipulated timelines and to the highest standards of quality and excellence.

Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Council Members Anil Valmiki and D.P. Singh, Secretary Rahul Singh, senior officials, school students and teachers were also present.

While remembering and paying tributes to freedom fighters and jawans of the Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces who laid down their lives for the nation, Dwivedi commended and lauded their role in the freedom movement and the security of the nation.

Addressing the gathering after the flag‑hoisting ceremony, the NDMC Chairperson called upon Team NDMC to gear up for the upcoming BRICS Summit, stressing that the civic agency must meet global standards and leave no scope for compromise in terms of infrastructure, civic services, cleanliness, aesthetics and overall preparedness.

“I have not only hope but complete confidence that, with our collective efforts, dedication and teamwork, Team NDMC will once again rise to the occasion and successfully deliver every responsibility entrusted to us,” he said.

Referring to last year’s achievements, the Chairperson stated that the projects completed by NDMC in the past have showcased the Council’s institutional capabilities and execution strength. He said that NDMC’s projects have also enhanced public infrastructure and helped meet the expectations of citizens.

He urged all officers and staff to maintain the same spirit of excellence and ensure that all ongoing projects are completed within the stipulated timelines, without compromising on quality, functionality or global standards.

Before hoisting the National Flag, the Security and Fire Personnel of NDMC gave a guard of honour to the Chairperson.

On the occasion of Independence Day, NDMC illuminated its headquarters, Convention Centre, NDCC Building, Connaught Place, Charkha Museum, Palika Bazar and other prominent buildings with around 18,000 tricolour bulbs.

As many as 3,000 National Flags were displayed on electric poles along the avenue roads in the entire NDMC area. Apart from this, 12 floral boards and floral fountains along roadsides congratulating citizens on the 80th Independence Day were also displayed in New Delhi by NDMC.
