An emotional moment unfolded as General Dhiraj Seth assumed office as the 31st Chief of the Army Staff by saluting his father, Lieutenant General K.M. Seth (retd), after receiving the ceremonial Guard of Honour. This touching gesture combined military tradition with filial respect. Earlier, General Seth paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial before being honored with a Guard of Honour at the South Block lawns.
General Seth, in a heartfelt gesture, saluted his father and sought his mother’s blessings in a deeply emotional moment following the ceremony. His brother, Rear Admiral Ravnish Seth, also saluted him, making the occasion even more memorable. Speaking to the media, General Seth expressed his honor and humility in taking up the role, emphasizing his commitment to duty, honor, and ‘Nation First.’
The new army chief thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the Indian Army. He also paid tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation, highlighting their courage and dedication as a source of inspiration for future generations.
