Director Tamizh Dhayalan’s film “Gevi,” starring Aadhavan and Sheela, is now in contention for the 98th Academy Awards (Oscars 2026), meeting the eligibility criteria for nomination consideration. The movie, produced by Artuptriangles Film Kampany, is a gripping survival drama based on true events, set in the Western Ghats’ rugged terrains, portraying a tale of survival and pursuit of justice.
“Gevi” follows the story of a rural couple near Kodaikanal, delving into themes of resilience, justice, and human perseverance against nature’s harsh challenges. Lead actors Aadhavan and Sheela are supported by a talented ensemble cast, including Jacqueline Lydia, Jeeva Subramanian, B. Ganesh, Vivek Mohan, and Umar Farook.
Immersed in the cultural, social, and environmental contexts of rural India, “Gevi” offers a narrative with universal resonance, blending emotional depth with cinematic grandeur. The film has been officially submitted to the Academy Screening Room (ASR), where members can view it for final nominations.
Producer Jagan Jayasurya expressed confidence in “Gevi’s” potential to compete at the highest level for the Best Picture category at the Oscars, highlighting its scale, craftsmanship, and emotional impact. The film, alongside other Indian entries like “Homebound,” will undergo voting by Academy members from January 12 to January 16, 2026, with the official nominee list unveiling on January 22, 2026.
