More than 500 experts from 50 countries convened at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Gandhinagar for a three-day international summit focusing on enhancing global cooperation in digital forensics and AI-enabled investigations. The summit, which concluded on Wednesday, featured the 1st International Investigators’ Summit and Competition on ‘AI-Enabled Digital Forensic Investigations’, organized by NFSU in collaboration with INTERPOL.
Participants at the event included academicians, law enforcement officers, digital forensic specialists, cybersecurity experts, and industry representatives. The summit aimed to facilitate discussions on emerging technologies, share best practices, and explore avenues for bolstering international collaboration in combating complex digital crimes. Noteworthy was the inaugural International Investigators Competition, a practical challenge involving realistic digital investigation scenarios, which drew 122 participants from India and abroad.
NFSU Vice Chancellor Dr. J. M. Vyas emphasized the necessity for enhanced collaboration across various sectors in the digital era to effectively address evolving criminal threats. He highlighted the importance of sustained engagement among academia, law enforcement, industry, and policymakers for ensuring justice in the digital age. The summit, according to Dr. Vyas, served as a crucial platform for fostering such collaboration and establishing a robust global network capable of tackling transnational crimes and advancing digital forensic investigations to new standards.
The summit also included the 11th INTERPOL Digital Forensic Expert Group meeting, where digital forensic practitioners, government agencies, and law enforcement leaders engaged in closed-door discussions on strategic matters in the field. An exhibition held during the event provided industry participants, including Indian start-ups, with a platform to showcase digital forensic tools, technologies, and innovations. NFSU highlighted the summit’s focus on reinforcing international cooperation in digital forensics and AI-enabled investigations to combat the escalating challenges posed by transnational cybercrime and digital evidence.
