GM Korea, the South Korean branch of General Motors, announced a 7.5% decrease in its yearly sales for 2025 compared to the previous year. The company disclosed that it sold 462,310 vehicles in 2025, a decline from the 499,559 units sold in 2024. Domestic sales saw a significant 39.2% decline to 15,094 units, while exports decreased by 5.8% to 447,216 units.
In December, GM Korea’s domestic sales were 1,142 units, marking a 36.6% drop from the previous year. Exports in December also decreased by 0.3% to 51,358 units. Gustavo Colossi, the vice president of sales and services at GM Korea, stated that in 2026, the company plans to enhance its brand presence in Korea by introducing a varied range of GMC and Buick models for Korean consumers.
Renault Korea Motors, the South Korean division of Renault S.A., reported a 17.7% decline in its annual sales for 2025 compared to the previous year, primarily due to sluggish exports. The company sold a total of 88,044 vehicles in 2025, down from 106,939 units in the prior year. Domestic sales surged by 31.3% to 52,271 units, while exports plummeted by 46.7% to 35,773 units.
Renault Korea credited the robust domestic performance to an 85.5% increase in sales of the Grand Koleos SUV. However, exports of the Arkana and QM6 SUVs dropped by 54% and 96.2%, respectively, significantly impacting overall performance. The company anticipates a rebound in exports in the upcoming year with the commencement of shipments of the Polestar 4 electric SUV.
Renault Korea initiated full-scale contract manufacturing of the Polestar 4 at its Busan plant last year.
