Cases have been filed against P. Suresh Kumar, also known as Surya Bhai or the ‘Gold Man,’ by Hyderabad police for alleged gold investment fraud. Surya Bhai, claiming close ties to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, is accused of deceiving people by promising to provide imported gold at prices much lower than market rates but failing to deliver after receiving payments. Two separate cases have been registered based on complaints from victims.
Allegations suggest that Surya Bhai took Rs 32 lakh from one victim, assuring them of imported gold delivery. When he did not fulfill the promise or return the money, the victims visited his residence. He initially gave them three iPhones and a Rs 20 lakh cheque but later reclaimed the phones by using threats. A zero FIR was filed at Attapur Police Station based on a complaint, later transferred to Narayanguda Police Station.
Another case has been filed against Surya Bhai for filing a false complaint. Police took action upon discovering that he provided misleading information. An investigation is ongoing to uncover the full scope of the alleged fraud and identify additional victims. Surya Bhai, aged 34 and residing in Attapur, gained social media fame for showcasing gold jewelry, earning him the moniker ‘Gold Man’ for his extravagant displays on online platforms.
In March, Surya Bhai attracted income tax scrutiny, revealing that most of his jewelry was fake rather than genuine gold. Initially claiming jewelry worth Rs 1 crore, he later revised the estimate significantly downward, with the jewelry’s actual value assessed at around Rs 3 lakh.
