Google has unveiled new Gemini-powered experiences, such as AI Inbox, to provide users with more personalized and helpful insights. These features are now available in the US for Gmail users and Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. Blake Barnes, VP Product at Gmail, mentioned that the new capabilities will be expanded to more languages and regions in the upcoming months.
AI Inbox functions as a personalized briefing tool, assisting users in prioritizing tasks and staying informed about important matters. It identifies VIP contacts based on various signals like frequent email interactions, contacts list, and inferred relationships from message content. Google ensures that this analysis is conducted securely, maintaining user data privacy.
Similar to Google Search, AI Overviews simplify information retrieval without extensive searching. For instance, Gmail can condense lengthy email threads into concise summaries of key points. Additionally, users can ask their inbox questions, and Gemini will generate straightforward AI Overviews with the answers. These AI Overview conversation summaries are now accessible to all users at no additional cost.
Google has introduced ‘Help Me Write’ for users to refine or create emails from scratch, along with updated Suggested Replies that offer contextually relevant one-click responses based on conversation context. Both features are now available to all users without any charges, while the Proofread feature is exclusive to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.
In the future, ‘Help Me Write’ will receive enhanced personalization by integrating context from other Google applications. Currently, Gmail serves as a vital tool for 3 billion users worldwide, leveraging AI technologies like Smart Replies and AI-powered spam protection to enhance user experience.
