The government has earmarked Rs 2,010 crore to enhance judicial infrastructure and digitize courts, along with providing essential training and capacity building programs. Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal disclosed that Rs 810 crore has been assigned in the Union Budget 2026 for judicial infrastructure under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) for Development of Infrastructure Facilities for the District and Subordinate Courts. Additionally, Rs 1,200 crore has been set aside in the budget for the eCourts Project Phase-III, aimed at digitizing courts and conducting necessary training and capacity building programs, as stated in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.

Adequate budgetary allocations have been made for these schemes based on approved outlays and fund availability. The minister highlighted that the swift resolution of cases relies on various factors such as case complexity, investigation quality, evidence availability, court process timeliness, active party involvement, and judicial procedures.

The government, in collaboration with states and the judiciary, has implemented several measures to ensure accessible, prompt, and efficient justice nationwide. Furthermore, a Centrally Sponsored Scheme was initiated in October 2019 to establish Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs), including exclusive POCSO (ePOCSO) courts, for the speedy trial and resolution of pending cases related to rape and offenses under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, 2012.

The scheme, extended twice, is currently valid until September 30, 2026, for setting up 790 FTSCs. According to information from the High Courts, as of April 30, 775 FTSCs, including 398 exclusive POCSO (e-POCSO) Courts, were operational in 29 States/UTs, as informed by the minister.
