Government employees in Balochistan, Pakistan, have been protesting for seven months, demanding a 30% Disparity Reduction Allowance (DRA) similar to other provinces. The protests, led by the Balochistan Grand Alliance (BGA), aim to address salary discrepancies among different government departments.

The BGA highlighted that despite recommendations for DRA implementation by a government committee, no action has been taken by the Balochistan Chief Minister. In response to the protests, the government has arrested over 50 employees and suspended 38 assistant professors and lecturers for participating in the demonstrations.

Protests have escalated with road blockades and strikes, disrupting traffic on key highways connecting Quetta to other cities. The BGA plans to continue protests in phases, including a complete closure of government offices on January 15, with a final sit-in scheduled for January 20 near the Red Zone in Quetta.
