Union Minister J.P. Nadda assured on Thursday that the government is committed to safeguarding former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah. Responding to worries raised in the Rajya Sabha by Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge about a recent attack on Abdullah, Nadda emphasized the seriousness of the incident and the government’s high level of concern.
Kharge expressed concerns over the security threat faced by Farooq Abdullah in Jammu and Kashmir, attributing it to the region’s changed status following the revocation of its statehood. He questioned the adequacy of security measures in the area, leading to a heated discussion in the House.
In response to Kharge’s queries, Nadda acknowledged the gravity of the attack on Farooq Abdullah, emphasizing the government’s proactive stance in investigating the incident thoroughly. He assured that a comprehensive inquiry would be conducted to explore all aspects related to the attack.
Nadda urged against politicizing the issue and cautioned against linking the attack to the delay in restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He criticized allegations insinuating government involvement in the incident and emphasized the need for a fair and unbiased investigation into the matter.
