The government has extended the tenure of Statistics and Programme Implementation Secretary Saurabh Garg by another year and Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Ravi Agrawal by six months. Garg, a 1991-batch Indian Administrative Service officer, will continue serving on a contract basis until July 31, 2027. He will also remain Secretary of the National Statistical Commission. Agrawal, an Indian Revenue Service officer of the 1988 batch, will continue as CBDT Chairman until December 31 this year.

In addition, two Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have been promoted to the rank of Joint Directors. Atul Kumar Thakur and Pankaj Kumar Singh, both IPS officers, have been appointed as Joint Directors in the CBI with tenures approved up to November 24, 2028, and December 5, 2028, respectively.

Other appointments include Rahul Kumar as Officer on Special Duty to Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan, Krishna Kumar Tiwari’s extension at the Election Commission of India, Sanap Bajirao Ramnath’s extension at the Ministry of Defence, and Anshu Manish Khalkho’s premature repatriation to the parent cadre with extended cooling-off condition.
