The government announced a 5% increase in gas allocation to fertilizer plants, aiming to reach 95% of their six-month average consumption. Domestic PNG and CNG transport will receive 100% supply priority. Since March 2026, approximately 4.15 lakh PNG connections have been gasified, with an additional 4.55 lakh customers registering for new connections.
About 1,13,233 MT of commercial LPG has been sold, equivalent to over 60 lakh 19-kg LPG cylinders, since March 14, 2026. On March 10, more than 7,140 MT of commercial LPG, equivalent to over 3.76 lakh 19-kg LPG cylinders, was sold. The Petroleum Ministry reported that CGD entities are focusing on providing PNG connections to commercial establishments like hotels, restaurants, and canteens to address commercial LPG availability concerns.
States and Central Ministries have been urged to expedite approvals for expanding CGD networks. The government has offered an additional 10% allocation of commercial LPG to states that support the transition from LPG to PNG in the long term. Eighteen states and UTs are already benefiting from additional commercial LPG allocation tied to PNG expansion reforms.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has implemented an Accelerated Approval Framework for CGD infrastructure for three months to fast-track applications. In a bid for a cleaner, more secure energy future, the government has introduced a model draft State CBG Policy to encourage CBG development. States opting for this policy will receive priority for the next round of additional commercial LPG allocation.
