The government has introduced a national AI skilling initiative that will provide 15,000 scholarships for individuals interested in media, entertainment, animation, gaming, and digital storytelling. The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, in partnership with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT), is spearheading this program developed with Google and YouTube. The initiative will offer a two-phase curriculum that combines online foundation training and hybrid specialization to equip participants with AI skills relevant to the industry.
The first phase of the program will focus on providing scholarships for Google Career Certificates and Google Cloud’s Generative AI learning paths. This phase will include about 33 hours of online training covering generative AI fundamentals, prompting techniques, and responsible AI practices. Interested candidates are encouraged to enroll in this initiative to enhance their careers in creative fields.
Upon completion of the foundation stage, participants will progress to a hybrid specialization phase that emphasizes practical application. This phase will involve project-based learning in storytelling, creative production, and the utilization of advanced AI tools. The curriculum, developed in collaboration with IICT and YouTube, will also integrate platform best practices to improve content reach and engagement.
The initiative aims to build a skilled talent pool capable of fostering innovation in India’s rapidly evolving media and digital landscape by combining technical expertise with creative application. Dr. Vishwas Deoskar, CEO of IICT, highlighted that this initiative addresses the national need to prepare creative professionals for the real-world application of AI in content creation, production, and distribution.
