The government has introduced Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi), also known as Wi-Fi Calling, across the country. This service is now accessible to all BSNL customers in every telecom circle, offering reliable connectivity even in challenging areas. VoWiFi is especially beneficial in rural and remote regions with limited mobile coverage, as long as a stable Wi-Fi connection like BSNL Bharat Fiber is available.
BSNL states that VoWiFi aids in reducing network congestion and is free of charge, with no extra fees for Wi-Fi calls. Customers can now make voice calls and send messages over a Wi-Fi network, ensuring clear communication in places with weak mobile signals. This service supports seamless handovers between Wi-Fi and mobile networks, using the customer’s existing mobile number and phone dialer without requiring third-party apps.
The Ministry of Communications highlighted that VoWiFi is compatible with most modern smartphones. Customers simply need to activate Wi-Fi Calling in their device settings. For assistance with device compatibility and support, customers can reach out to the nearest BSNL customer service center or contact the BSNL helpline at 18001503. The introduction of VoWiFi marks a significant advancement in BSNL’s network modernization efforts and its dedication to enhancing connectivity nationwide, particularly in underserved regions.
