The government announced a 30% rise in domestic cooking gas production, ensuring ample fuel reserves despite tensions in West Asia. Sujata Sharma, from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, highlighted the surge in LPG output from Indian refineries. Efforts are ongoing to prioritize LPG supplies for households, hospitals, and schools to ensure uninterrupted distribution.

India’s refineries are currently operating at full capacity, boasting a self-sufficient production of petrol and diesel, reducing the need for imports. Fuel stocks remain plentiful across the nation, with no dry situations reported at the nearly 100,000 fuel retail outlets. Refineries maintain adequate crude oil inventories, ensuring smooth operations and regular replenishment of supplies.

The government also confirmed stable supplies of piped natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG), with no disruptions in distribution. PNG for households and CNG for vehicles continue to be supplied without interruptions. Approximately 15 million Indian households are linked to PNG networks, while an additional 6 million homes near gas pipelines can easily access PNG connections. Consumers are encouraged to transition to PNG to alleviate pressure on LPG demand.
