The government has allocated more than Rs 20 lakh crore towards 1,702 ongoing infrastructure projects nationwide, as revealed in Parliament. These projects, each exceeding Rs 150 crore in cost, have an original combined value of Rs 33.71 lakh crore, with Rs 20.01 lakh crore already expended. Monitoring is conducted through the PAIMANA platform, overseeing progress in 17 Central ministries and departments.
To enhance operational efficiency, the PAIMANA platform has been linked with the Integrated Project Monitoring Portal (IPMP) of the DPIIT. This integration facilitates automatic data sharing through APIs, reducing manual input significantly. Notably, around 64% of projects in sectors like roads, petroleum, and coal are now updated automatically.
Efforts to streamline project execution include periodic reviews under the PRAGATI platform, chaired by the Prime Minister, to address hurdles and accelerate implementation. The Project Monitoring Group (PMG) under the DPIIT also aids in expediting approvals and resolving issues for projects with investments exceeding Rs 500 crore through inter-ministerial coordination.
