The impact of Central government-aided poultry farming in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district is evident as locals benefit from the initiative. Ehtesham, a resident, established a successful poultry farm with government assistance, providing employment opportunities and serving as an inspiration to others in the community. Many unemployed youths in the area are now turning to poultry farming as a reliable source of income, thanks to government support.
Under the guidance of the Animal Husbandry Department, Ehtesham’s poultry unit in Tandwal-Mubarakpura is thriving, generating a monthly income of Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000. This success story highlights how government-backed initiatives are fostering economic development at the grassroots level by creating job opportunities and empowering local residents. The support provided by the Centre, including monetary assistance, subsidies, and technical guidance, has enabled individuals like Ehtesham to realize their entrepreneurial dreams.
Dr. Khalid, the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer of Rajouri, emphasized the growing significance of poultry farming as a livelihood option in the district. Numerous poultry units are operating successfully under various government schemes, benefiting educated, unemployed youths who are seeking self-employment opportunities within their communities. The department is committed to offering beneficiaries the necessary guidance, training, and support to establish and expand their ventures, ensuring sustainable growth in the sector.
Ehtesham expressed his gratitude for the government’s assistance, stating that the poultry farming venture, initiated under a Central government scheme, has transformed his family’s financial situation. With initial earnings ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 per month, the farm has also provided employment to five individuals, illustrating the positive impact of government interventions in promoting entrepreneurship and economic stability in the region.
