The Grammy Awards have announced the addition of 5 new categories for their upcoming show on February 7, 2027. These new categories span across Latin, Asian Pop, and R&B genres. Notable changes include adjustments to the Best New Artist and Best Album categories.
The modifications allow artists to be submitted for consideration up to four times, an increase from the previous limit of three submissions. Moreover, the eligibility criteria for new albums have been revised, reducing the required percentage of new recordings from 75% to 66%.
One of the most debated awards, Best New Artist, will witness multiple artists, such as Ella Langley, receiving a fourth chance for nomination. Langley’s recent success with the hit single “Choosin’ Texas” and album “Dandelion” has propelled her into the spotlight.
Furthermore, the definition of a new album has been redefined to be more inclusive, acknowledging works that may have remixes or live versions of previously released songs. Additionally, songwriters and composers contributing to winning albums across various genres will now be honored with Grammy statuettes and Achievement Certificates.
