A significant event marked the 162nd Maryada Mahotsav at Chhoti Khatu in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district. The programme, graced by Acharya Mahashraman, featured an intellectual discourse by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat. Bhagwat emphasized India’s historical role in guiding the world on decorum and righteous conduct, highlighting the influence of saints on values and discipline.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat underscored the importance of conduct over mere words in shaping society. He mentioned that Indian society’s exemplary individuals have traditionally embodied principles like charity, service, and pursuit of truth. Bhagwat also discussed the significance of values such as truth, non-violence, celibacy, non-stealing, and non-possession in Indian culture.
Bhagwat elaborated on the concept of Dharma as a guiding principle for righteousness and balance in life. He emphasized that while law addresses some issues, many require the moral compass of Dharma. The RSS chief praised India’s altruistic approach on the global stage, contrasting it with self-serving actions of other nations. He highlighted India’s humanitarian aid efforts during crises and its eco-friendly agricultural practices promoting harmony.
Acharya Mahashraman, quoting a Sanskrit verse, stressed the value of wise words in guiding society. He discussed the enriching role of scriptures, sacred texts, and saintly teachings in enhancing human understanding. The tradition of Maryada Mahotsav, dating back to ancient rituals, was explained as a symbol of discipline and decorum essential for societal order.
Peace was emphasized as humanity’s ultimate goal, with a call for non-violence as a fundamental policy. Acharya Mahashraman highlighted the need for firmness when peace efforts fail, advocating for non-aggression while ensuring national security. The event, attended by senior RSS functionaries and social organization representatives, focused on upholding discipline and avoiding food wastage, reflecting a commitment to values and decorum.
