In a significant breakthrough, the Greater Noida police cracked down on a burglary racket involved in looting locked residences. They recovered valuables like cash and jewellery from the culprits. Acting on a tip-off, the police nabbed four miscreants, with two getting injured during an encounter and the other two arrested during a combing operation.
The police seized a substantial amount of valuables from the gang, including gold jewellery worth Rs 51 lakh, silver jewellery worth Rs 1.25 lakh, and Rs 11.27 lakh in cash. Additionally, two motorcycles and four illegal country-made pistols were confiscated. The miscreants were apprehended during a routine check near Moser Baer roundabout after they tried to flee and opened fire at the police team.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in the crimes. The gang members revealed that they targeted locked houses in Noida, Greater Noida, and the National Capital Region. Bhole, a Rapido driver, would scout housing societies to gather information on locked houses for the gang to execute planned thefts. Their recent major theft occurred at the Paramount Society in Surajpur police station area.
The arrested individuals have a history of multiple criminal cases, including theft, robbery, and violations of various acts. The prime accused, Vakil alias Rizwan, has over 32 criminal cases against him, while Sarfaraz alias Faiz has more than 17 cases registered against him in different places.
