The elevation of Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Limited to Navratna status was commemorated with the release of a Special Cover and My Stamp on Friday. The Special Cover was unveiled by Ashok Kumar, Chief Postmaster General of West Bengal Circle, in the presence of senior officials from GRSE and India Post.
GRSE was granted Navratna status by the Department of Public Enterprises under the Union Ministry of Finance in June 2026, recognizing the shipyard’s consistent financial and physical performance over the years. This milestone signifies GRSE’s operational excellence, financial strength, and strategic significance in the nation’s defense ecosystem.
Over the last five years, GRSE has shown remarkable growth and operational excellence, with Revenue from Operations increasing from Rs 1,754 crore in FY 2021-22 to Rs 7,002 crore in FY 2025-26. Profit After Tax (PAT) has also risen from Rs 190 crore to Rs 748 crore during the same period.
The shipyard, a strong supporter of the government’s “Atmanirbharta” and “Make in India” initiatives, has delivered over 800 marine platforms in its 66-year history. Notably, GRSE has delivered 118 warships to the Navy, Coast Guard, and Friendly Foreign Nations, the highest number by any shipyard in India.
